Internships



This paid internship opportunity is for high school juniors and seniors to work for local nonprofits. Students in a national leadership summit and gain practical work and life experience. In order to participate in this program, you'll have to live in one of the eligible markets listed.



Building-U is a nonprofit organization that connects students to opportunities to help students find the path that is right for them. If you have a passion for empowering students, I strongly recommend you apply. You can apply to be a student ambassador, a coding intern, a blog squad member, a resource R and D intern, a marketing intern, a business development intern, a data privacy and cybersecurity intern, or a multimedia project intern. This opportunity is very flexible and you can choose how many hours per week you want to spend on this internship.



3. Comet


Comet is an all-in-one task manager that helps students choose their major, find the RIGHT college(s), and keep track of their college apps. They have a remote flight test program where interns will co-create the Comet platform, gain valuable insight into the college admissions process, and learn about Entrepreneurship, Computer Programming, UI/UX Design, and Marketing. Previous experience is not required and this opportunity is only for high school juniors and seniors.



For this internship, you can work at an international company and connect with interns around the globe. You will first take 4 courses to gain essential STEM and leadership skills for your future career. After mastering them you will lead others through one of the courses. Then, you will develop specialized skills in a chosen field of interest (PM, Coaching, STEM, etc.). You will also master leadership skills by mentoring and training new interns entering the program.



This program mentors and trains motivated youth, of middle, high school, and college age, in the development of confidence and the critical skills needed to become effective, dynamic, and visionary 21st-century leaders.




Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors can intern with a diverse group of socially conscious peers to bring vital social connections to older adults. Interns will participate in discussion groups, home visits, and creative arts, and tech assistance and earn over 112 community service hours.



If you are a sophomore in high school, you can apply to their two-year Fellowship program, where high school juniors and seniors from diverse backgrounds participate in intensive training on leadership and diversity. If you are passionate about promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, I recommend you apply. Before applying, keep in mind that you must be able to travel to NYC for every meeting.



Jimerson Birr is a Florida-based law firm that offers internship opportunities to high school seniors to gain real-world experience and develop professional skills. During the course of the internship, ranging from 4-6 weeks, each student can assist in a variety of departments. Summer interns work closely with key department heads and their teams to develop their professional abilities. Depending on your interests, you will gain experience in accounting, communications and marketing, legal services, and information technology.



Ladders for Leaders is a nationally recognized program that offers outstanding high school and college students the opportunity to participate in paid professional summer internships with leading corporations, non-profit organizations, and government agencies in New York City.



This program has a variety of different internships in engineering, business, healthcare, and social science. Examples of jobs include accountants, social workers, therapists, engineers, human resource professionals, direct care workers, nurses, etc.



There's a variety of internships for high schoolers to work at nonprofit organizations. All internships are virtual, skill-based, and flexible. Examples of internships are website manager, executive director, and HR Officer.



You can choose the remote internship program or the global internship program where you will be able to travel to different countries across the world. You can choose internships from 20+ career fields, from business internships to music internships. Although you do have to pay for this opportunity, you can apply for a variety of scholarships and discounts to finance your international internship.





Teen Museum Council is an intensive year-long program for D.C. Metro area teens. Throughout the academic year, TMC members work on a variety of activities for other DC-area teens, such as creating a teen art exhibition, organizing a teen night out, collaborating on social media projects, initiating a video project, or offering a special teen-led tour of the Portrait Gallery.



Expanding Horizons Institute (EHI) provides first-generation, college-bound high school students in the Los Angeles area with an intensive experience of skill development and personal growth that prepares them for college, career, and civic life. Interns will be provided with 15+hours of guidance on professionalism, college preparation, and civic engagement. In order to apply for this paid internship, you have to be a first-generation college student and a sophomore or junior attending a Title I high school.



Through this remote internship, you will provide support to NGOs in India that are active in various fields of social work, supporting underprivileged women, vulnerable children, low-income families, or other disadvantaged communities. You will assist with building awareness, fundraising, and helping people find jobs.



This is a paid internship. Under the guidance of the Public Health Director, interns will actively assist the team via social media-related projects, online community interaction, and technical support. Interns will attend meetings, engage on social media platforms, implement suggestions from stakeholders and conduct data and create reports. In order to be eligible for this program, you have to be a high school junior or senior and possess Microsoft Office knowledge.


17. Forage


If you have no experience and want to learn career-ready skills with short work experience programs, I strongly recommend you try out Forage programs. You'll have access to experience from top companies. There's no application process, no cost, and no set schedule. You will receive a certificate of completion after you complete the program, and you can include it on your resume to help you stand out.



YouUnited is a website that connects students with internships, volunteer opportunities, volunteer opportunities, scholarships, Competitions and awards, and study resources. You can search for paid and nonpaid internships on this website.



This program introduces young individuals to an economic way of thinking about national and international issues and helps teachers become more effective educators. It provides curriculum materials for teachers to engage students.


20. LaunchX


LaunchX is a high school entrepreneurial program that helps students launch real startups. It connects students to top speakers, experienced staff, and leading course materials. So far, it has helped high schoolers launch more than 400 startups and it can help you do so too!

This opportunity have an online and an in-person program to help you become a startup founder before college. Those programs actually walk you through the entire process. From validation to creation, to traction, to the last step: pitching. During the last phase, students will demo and pitch their company to a judging panel formed by investors, CEOs, technologists, and more.



NSTEM is an organization that introduces students to STEM and prepares them for STEM careers. If you are passionate about empowering students through education, I recommend you apply. They offer remote internships in Social Media Marketing; Email Marketing; Customer Service; Chapter Media and Communications; Public Relations (PR); E-Commerce & Merchandise; Video, Film, & Media Production; Website & Technology; Human Resources (HR); Business Management & Operations; Analytics. The minimum amount of time you have to spend on the internship per week is 15 hours. You can potentially use this internship to get college credit.



You can choose from a variety of internships and gain expertise and industry expertise with Fortune Global 500 companies. Those internships are basically you pay, you get it. If you have the money and want to boost your resume, you can try this out. After the completion of this internship, you will get referral letter signed by the company, have the chance to network with top executives at Fortune Global 500 companies, and gain practical and transferrable industry expertise and skills for future career success.



This is also a you pay, you get it internship. Scenic America offers internships in Communications and Development, and Policy, Advocacy, and Research. Interns can work in person in their Washington, D.C. office or virtually from their home or university. Interns can gain hands-on, practical experience in communications, research, advocacy, fundraising, and other disciplines.



MicroCapital offers an intensive, remote microfinance internship program. They are recruiting research associates and webmaster associates. All internships are uncompensated, however, sometimes academic credit can be arranged. The minimum time commitment is 15 hours per week for 15 weeks.



These internships help people realize their potential by setting up new businesses through interest-free microloans. Through those internships, you can help business owners make real change. Since they are oversea, the cost for those programs is pretty high, and you will only be staying there for a short amount of time.



This program provides Arizona youth with on-job training. After completing the Academy, interns will be placed in their roles and begin gaining experience and earning wages. You can also apply for a Google Career Certificate Scholarship and earn a Google Career Certificate for free.



First Air Fund offers special opportunities for teens ages 13-17. They have Job Readiness, Internship, and Credentialing programs that offer stipends depending on the time commitment required. Interns will primarily meet virtually, but they also have in-peron opportunities as well. They have a job readiness program that focuses on developing leadership skills and job readiness skills. The internship program consists of journalism and CIT, which train students to be future camp leaders. It also offers credential programs like video game design and entrepreneurship. For those programs, interns will get industry-level skills and receive a certificate upon completion.



This program is for first-generation students who are sophomores or juniors attending a Title I high school. It provides interns with an intensive experience of skill development and personal growth that prepares them for college, career, and civic life through interactive seminars and paid summer internships. Through this program, you can improve your leadership skills and receive SAT prep and college admission help from experts.



This internship program helps high schoolers gain on-the-job experience relevant to their field of study in a social/human services environment. There are many internship opportunities available in programs like Administration, Behavioral Health, Nutrition Services, Headstart and Childcare, and others. All interns must be approved by the high school or college/university and the internship should be for credit.



This organization offers international internships for high schoolers. You can choose from a variety of internships and you have the option to intern abroad or remotely. Compared to other intern abroad programs, this organization offers internships at a lower price.

This organization offers volunteer and internship opportunities overbroad. They have a special hassle-free, pre-planned volunteer program for high schoolers. You will get opportunities to gain college and career readiness skills and receive a certificate at the end of your program and a reference letter on request. One drawback of this program is that it's very expensive. If that's a problem for you, I recommend you consider Intern Abroad HQ instead.



The Kokosing Construction Company offers internships for high schoolers to expand their knowledge of the construction industry through hands-on project involvement. For detailed information, refer to individual job postings.



The High School Summer Internship Program at Jimerson Bir offers a unique opportunity to help you prepare to enter your first year of college with real-world experience added to your skillset. The internship ranges from 4-6 weeks and each student can assist in a variety of departments to gain experience in accounting, communications and marketing, legal services, and information technology. They are looking for interns who are motivated, self-starters, and enthusiastic about learning how a polished legal firm runs.



You Spoken is a youth-made, youth-ran, and youth-supported organization that brings awareness to problems that youth face in this world, such as bullying, racial discrimination, poverty, mental health crises, sexism, rape/sexual harassment, homophobia, climate change, etc. If you are interested in promoting youth independence, I recommend you apply as a volunteer. They have roles like graphic designers, sector activists, and content writers.



Microphone Initiative is an international Gen-Z-led non-profit organization that gives students an opportunity to access and learn about foreign policy. Students will attend a free 10-week mentorship program with a knowledgeable high school or college mentor and be equipped with the resources to craft a creative solution to a problem related to their sustainable development goal within their community. Besides the option to participate in the program, you also have the opportunity to apply and be a team member.



Leveled Legislation is an organization that works to combat the subjugation of women’s careers, basic rights, and protections. You have the option to intern for their international teams: policy, education, and/or research.



This opportunity teaches members how to pursue their passions in entrepreneurship in a socially responsible way. Interns will be able to gain experience in content-making and share their knowledge with students with similar interests. Curriculum interns are required to create ONE slideshow each month talking about an approved business concept. The time commitment for this opportunity is only 2-3 hours each month.



ClimateScience is an UN-backed organization that focuses on increasing climate education in your community. There are a variety of opportunities available, you can even write to them if you don't find the opportunity that you are looking for. You can build new experiences and connections, explore opportunities to earn leadership positions, build your resume, and acquire skills, all while being part of a fun community!



Spears to Success is a marketing organization that provides free SEO, influencer relations, market research, and social media management services to nonprofits and small businesses to help them succeed and grow. They are fully remote and they provide volunteer hours. This is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to gain experience in marketing, connect with those in business, and learn new skills.



You can explore work-based learning opportunities and career prep courses. If you want to get hands-on experience, there are many volunteer opportunities, and you can track your hours for documentation. Those internships are completely virtual and you will receive a certificate of completion after you complete the program.



For this opportunity, you can get an internship abroad in places like Madrid, London, or Lisbon. You'll have to pay to get the internships, but the price includes accommodations, professional coaching feedback, airport transfer, and flight and visa assistance. This training program helps you prepare for entry-level project manager jobs in less than 6 months. No degree or experience is required. During this training program, you will learn how to manage projects using traditional and agile methods, create project documentation, and develop strategic communication skills. Project managers are very in demand and there are 479,000 U.S. job openings in project management with a $73,000 median entry-level salary.



During this program, you will learn to manage digital marketing campaigns, attract and engage customers, and measure performance through analytics. Throughout this program, you will gain in-demand skills that prepare you for an entry-level job and learn how to use tools and platforms like Canva, Constant Contact, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Shopify, and Twitter. You will learn from subject-matter experts at Google and have a chance to build your own portfolio with projects like customer personas and social media calendars to show to potential employers.



In this specialized course offered by the Wharton School, you’ll develop basic literacy in the language of business, which you can use to transition to a new career, start or improve your own small business, or apply to business school to continue your education. You will take 5 courses fundamentals of marketing, accounting, operations, and finance. In the end, you will finish with a Capstone Project where you will apply those skills to address a real business challenge.



This course is a part of the Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It will also go towards Business Analysis Specialization and Business Data and Management Specialization. During this 15-hour course, students will learn to identify the ideal analytic tool for their specific needs; understand valid and reliable ways to collect, analyze, and visualize data; and utilize data in decision-making for their agencies, organizations, or clients.



In this course, you will explore how entrepreneurs match promising technology with customer needs to launch successful new businesses. You will learn a systematic approach to technology entrepreneurship, how to generate new use scenarios by matching customer needs with promising technology seeds, how to align business and operating models, how to evaluate a technology for readiness and market fit, and how to position opportunities to secure funding.



You can build job-ready skills as a social media manager in less than 6 months. In this program, you’ll learn how to create a social media presence on Facebook and Instagram that people want to follow! No experience is required for this program. Upon the completion of this program, you can earn college credit when you're accepted into the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from the University of North Texas.



This specialization teaches you how to optimize website content for the best possible search engine ranking. You will learn on-page and off-page optimization, optimizing for local and international audiences, conducting search-focused website audits, and aligning SEO with overall business strategies. At the end, you will finish with a Capstone Project where you can apply the skills you've learned.



This specialization course is offered by Macquarie University. During this specialization course, learners can design sophisticated spreadsheets, including professional dashboards, and perform complex calculations using advanced Excel features and techniques. Learners have acquired the skills to manage large datasets efficiently, extract meaningful information from datasets, present data and extract information effectively. This certificate will be a great addition to your resume.



Computer Science


Internships



CSSI is an online, four-week introduction to computer science (CS) for rising first year college students. During this paid internship oppotunity, students will learn computer science fundamentals, participate in workshops to promote self-care, identity, career, and skill development, and build community with peers and industry professionals.



This internship is is open to rising first-year students of a bachelor’s degree program (graduating high school senior) that live within 50 miles of Redmond, Washington and who have an interest in technology. Discoverers will participate in a curriculum designed to learn programming fundamentals and develop career readiness skills while gaining mentorship from Microsoft employees. This is a paid internship, and you'll work full-time for 4 weeks.



Through this apprenticeship, you will spend your summer in a university research lab or in one of the U.S. Army Research Laboratories and Centers working one-on-one with a university researcher or DoD scientist mentor. Interns will receive a stipend for their work.



Computer Science for Cyber Security (CS4CS) is a 3-week full-day summer program providing an introduction on the fundamentals of cybersecurity and computer science at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering. This program is free. No background or experience in cybersecurity or computer programming is needed in order to apply, but you have to live in one of the five New York City boroughs or smaller neighboring cities such as Jersey City, Newark, or Hempstead.




This program works to narrow the gender gap in STEM. The purpose of this program is to introduce girls to programming and expose them to tech jobs. You will work on projects to add to your portfolio.



This program is for students who will have finished their junior or senior year of high school by the start of the program and are interested in scientific research only. Interns will participate in cutting-edge research at NIST and will work closely with NIST staff scientists and engineers on a specific research problem. Keep in mind that this is not a paid internship and interns are expected to provide their own housing and transportation.



They offer internships for juniors and seniors to work on real-world, challenging projects to contribute to critical national goals. Their internships provide students with opportunities to work on challenging projects at competitive pay, academic credits for some co-op and other internships, research mentoring from top scientists and engineers, and training and practical work experience using state-of-the-art equipment and instruments.



This program gives high school juniors the opportunity to engage in hands-on research in science, math, or engineering at Stony Brook University. You will work with distinguished faculty mentors, learn laboratory techniques and tools, become part of active research teams, and experience life at a research university.



This opportunity is for students in the Greater Seattle area to get hands-on, in-depth learning by connecting them with industry experts, educators, and mentors from various organizations. You will apply for projects and have interviews. Then you will be matched with an internship.


10. Tech360


This boot camp is available to high school students located in New York City (all boroughs), Los Angeles County, Miami-Dade, and Broward County. Through this program, students learn how to code through web design and web development, and gain knowledge of key coding languages and frameworks including HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. In the final week of the program, you will work in a team to build a final website and present it in the Demo Day Competition. After successfully completing the program, students will receive a stipend of $500!



This program is for high school students from Menlo Park, East Palo Alto, Redwood City, and San Francisco. During this six-week internship, externs will work closely with Facebook mentors to gain real-world work experience and on-the-job skills that will help them build successful careers. You get to work in teams like Finance Operations, Diversity and Inclusion (HR), Recruiting Programs and Operations, IT Service Desk, Media Partnerships, Information Security, Facilities Operations, and Communications.


Instructors from the AI Camp will recommend top students from the AI camp for internships at AI Camp and beyond. At AI Camp, students are hired to build websites, program discord services, and deploy servers that allow thousands of students to learn about AI. There are also opportunities to intern at healthcare and web 3 companies.


Camps are available to girls, gender nonconforming & trans students ages 13-18. Camps include activities outside of just direct learning, including hosting inspirational women in technology as part of a speaker series. The camps are free and no experience is necessary. You can also choose the in-person or the virtual program.



This is a 25-hour, Stanford and MIT Graduates lead program that teaches students the fundamentals of Python and machine learning. Students will build projects such as self-driving car simulations, cancer diagnosis, exoplanet detection, and criminal justice. It's beginner-friendly with a custom curriculum appropriate for complete beginners to advanced coders.



CScholar LLC is an all-in-one distributor of services that accelerates your computer science abilities. If you are interested in creating an educational foundation for all, they offer students an opportunity to intern as a software engineer. This is an unpaid internship but has the potential to lead up to a paid full-time job offer. No experience is necessary!

Classes



In this certificate program, you will learn in-demand skills in less than 6 months. You'll learn how to process and analyze data, use key analysis tools, apply R programming, and create visualizations that can inform key business decisions. You’ll prepare yourself for jobs that include junior or associate data analyst, database administrator, and more. There are 380,000 U.S. job openings in data analytics with a $74,000 median entry-level salary.



In this program, you will learn the foundations of networking and operating systems, providing end-to-end customer support, and how to solve problems using code. This program is ACE® approved—when you complete, you can earn up to 12 college credits, the equivalent of 4 associate degree-level courses. It will also help you prepare for CompTIA A+ exams.



This program provide IT professionals with in-demand skills -- including Python, Git, and IT automation -- that can help you advance your career. It’s designed to teach you how to program with Python and how to use Python to automate common system administration tasks. You'll also learn to use Git and GitHub, troubleshoot and debug complex problems, and apply automation at scale by using configuration management and the Cloud.


This camp offers virtual courses for students aged 13-18 to learn AI with zero coding experience. The courses are taught by Stanford and CMU graduates and have 5 levels depending on your coding skills. In this camp, you will build impressive AI products and learn real, employable skills. It does cost money, but you can apply for a scholarship.


Medical


Internships



This program offers paid internship opportunities in Kaiser Permanente Northern California headquarters and administrative offices, medical offices, and medical centers. It introduces underrepresented and low-income high school and undergraduate interns to careers in health professions and helps interns to obtain practical job skills and experiences that will help them to successfully pursue employment in the health professions.



This is a career immersion and science communication program for youth between the ages of 14-19, who are currently enrolled in high school (grades 9-11) in the Washington D.C. region. This program provides youth from populations that are underrepresented in science an opportunity to engage in an immersive, hands-on internship with Smithsonian science staff. This is a paid internship.



This internship program offers students an opportunity to work with and learn from a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, who include internationally-renowned investigators in the areas of genomics, bioinformatics, digital medicine, and community engagement. This program prepares students to become future leaders in the realm of translational medical research.



JHIBS has an in-person research program and a virtual program. The in-person program is an 8-week in-person summer research program for Baltimore-area high school students that helps them get exposed to and discover a career in the neurological sciences. This program is specifically for underrepresented backgrounds who have strong academic records and an interest in science or medicine. Interns are paid an hourly wage and will receive transportation funds, but no funds for housing. The virtual research experience is a 5-week program for high school juniors and seniors from across the United States. Virtual interns who successfully complete the 5-week program will receive a $500 scholarship to support their education.



This research opportunity is for high schoolers from underrepresented populations.

This program is for current high school juniors or seniors who will have the opportunity to design and conduct their own research projects as part of a themed research track. The majority of research will take place in the RockEDU Laboratory. SSRP scholars will also visit various laboratories around campus, and participate in activities such as lab meetings, equipment training, and more!



In this fellowship, students participate in supervised and independent research projects under laboratory mentors as well as numerous experiential learning programs. During the 10-week research experience, students also receive other educational opportunities, including an extensive scientific seminar program, professional development workshops, and dedicated residential life programs.



This internship program offers a competitive, eight-week, full-time paid internship for rising 12th graders, especially students that come from a background that is historically underrepresented in biomedical science. Interns will attend an orientation day, then attend 2 weeks of training about laboratory safety techniques and skills. For the remaining six weeks, interns are paired and immersed in mentored activities in a Fred Hutch research group in Seattle.



This program offers high school students the hands-on opportunity to take part in experimental research projects. Students will learn biomedical laboratory techniques through curriculum-based, real Wistar science in our new, state-of-the-art training lab and learn research techniques.



During this internship, high schoolers will work with leading scientists and contribute to the NINDS research mission. Interns will receive training and conduct cutting-edge clinical and basic research which will include career mentoring from leading neuroscience investigators, learning research skills, networking, and obtaining key credentials.



In this internship, interns learn to problem solve and create solutions unique to hospitals. Students are also immersed in several emerging areas such as genomic medicine and personalized medicine, regenerative medicine and stem cells, nanomedicine, robotics and robotic surgery, artificial intelligence and big data, medical devices and mobile technology, and innovations in healthcare delivery. Interns will receive mentorship from experts, participate in AI In medicine journal club, have hands-on workshops, go on educational and engaging field trips, and learn presentation and public speaking skills.



For this internship opportunity, students will work side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world, in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research. Internships generally cover a minimum of eight weeks. All interns must complete an orientation before joining their research groups. Keep in mind that if you will be 17 years of age on June 15, 2023, you must live, at the time of application, within 40 miles of the NIH campus on which you will intern.* (This requirement does not apply to applicants who are 18 and older.)



This internship is for high schoolers interested in exploring careers in all areas of cancer research, including basic, clinical, and translational research, epidemiology, biostatistics, genetics/genomics, and behavioral research. Internships run for at least eight weeks between May and September, and interns will work under the supervision of an NCI researcher. Those internships are paid, and it depends on the intern's academic level.



This is a paid internship based on experience and qualifications. During this internship, summer interns will participate in cutting-edge research projects that investigate new ways to prevent, treat, or even reverse vision loss — including topics such as:

  • Age-related macular degeneration and other eye diseases

  • Ophthalmic genetics

  • Retinal cell biology

  • Visual neurobiology

  • Immunology of the eye

Interns will have the chance to go to seminars and may be able to present at the NIH Summer Intern Poster Day on August 2023 with their mentor’s permission.



This internship is for high schoolers who are 18 or older. This program is a research experience that includes a dedicated mentor, collaboration and networking with world-class scientists, hands-on participation in research projects tailored to their academic experience, access to state-of-the-art equipment and technology, and judged poster presentation. Interns will be compensated monetarily and/or by earning school credit.




This program is a free five-week online enrichment program focused on science and medicine that is open to low-income, underrepresented high school juniors who live in Northern and Central California. Participants will be mentored throughout the five-week program by medical professionals, faculty, and college students with a passion for science.



Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego provides learning and growth opportunities for students that have an interest in pursuing careers in healthcare. Students will learn hands-on skills and have interactive learning opportunities.




This program is open to rising juniors or seniors. Students will be immersed in health topics such as public health interventions, global health, infectious disease, chronic disease, injury prevention, data analysis, surveys, school wellness programs, violence prevention, environmental health, emergency preparedness, outbreaks, scientific communication, laboratory technology, disease surveillance, epidemiology, and public health law.



Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is an eight-week program for graduating high school seniors in the Cincinnati-Cincinnati area to work 20 hours per week with a mentor in one of the multiple pediatric clinical specialties. This program is very competitive and interns will be paid $9.30/hr.


The academies are three-week programs in humanities or sciences. This is a non-credit program with residential and online options. If you are a student in Philadelphia, you may be eligible for financial aid.



This program is for high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors interested in health careers. In this free, weeklong program, you will gain a better understanding of the variety of healthcare careers.



This program is a paid summer employment opportunity for high school students who have their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) licenses. This is a seven-week internship program where interns will work four days a week on the nursing units and spend one day each week attending Lifespan Workforce and Youth Development training.



The cost for this program is $1400 and housing and housing aid is not provided to students. Each program is a week-long and during this program, students will learn about medical careers.




This is a unique five-day medical school immersion summer camp for academically strong freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in the health professions. Students will be provided with hands-on medical experiences which include the role of technology in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. There's a tuition cost of $1500.



This High School Summer Internship Program provides students with the opportunity to participate in basic, translational, or clinical scientific research with the goal of interesting students in biomedical research as a potential career. During the 4-week program, students will work on their own research projects under the guidance of an investigator and their staff at MWRI or Magee-Women's Hospital. At the end of the program, students present their research findings via a PowerPoint presentation to other participants as well as to the MWRI faculty and staff at the annual High School Internship Presentation Day.



This six-week paid internship is for rising juniors and seniors interested in brain structure, function, and development, and the advanced imaging techniques and technologies used in neuroscience. Interns will participate in research projects alongside MPFI scientists, prepare a written scientific abstract based on their research project, and deliver a short presentation at the end of the summer.



28. BRAINYAC


BRAINYAC is a program offered through Zuckerman Institute's Brain Research Apprenticeships in New York at Columbia University that provides high schoolers with an immersive, hands-on summer research experience in a Columbia laboratory. It gives students an opportunity to connect with scientists. This opportunity is only for 10th and 11th graders nominated by one of their partner programs: S-PREP, Lang Youth Medical, Double Discovery Center, Columbia Secondary School, and BioBus. Applicants must reside in New York City, and preference is given to students in upper Manhattan and the South Bronx.



This six-week internship offers students with no prior lab experience the opportunity to gain research experience and explore if a scientific career or biological major is right for them. Students will work with mentors to complete a pre-determined project appropriate for the six-week program. Every Wednesday, students will join the Undergraduate Researchers to participate in professional development lectures and discussions.




Interns will work with and learn from a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, who include internationally-renowned investigators in the areas of genomics, bioinformatics, digital medicine, and community engagement. They will gain knowledge of and exposure to current topics in translational science and gain research experience.



The Futures Matter Program is an eight-week, full-time, paid summer research internship experience at the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Students will participate in various activities to gain hands-on science experience and explore careers in biomedical research while working alongside faculty research mentors and engaging in discussions and seminars with other trainees.



This internship allows high school students with a strong interest in science to spend six weeks at the Broad Institute. You must be a rising senior in high school and attend a high school in MA within commuting distance of the Broad. Although you don't need previous research experience, you must have earned a B or better in science and math courses.



This is a paid internship program that runs for 10 weeks. Room and board and the cost of the round trip will be provided. Students will also receive a stipend of $6, 250. Students will conduct research in genomics and genetics.




The Introductory College Level Experience in Microbiology is an eight-week paid summer internship program for low-income high school sophomores and juniors in Alameda, San Francisco, or Contra Costa county schools. Students will complete a hands-on, real-world research project mentored by JBEI scientists. It will help broaden students' understanding of biotechnology and exposes students to careers in this field as they take field trips to local biotech companies and talk with scientists and engineers. This program also prepares students for the college application process as they meet college admission and financial aid experts and visit college campuses. After successfully completing this program, students will receive a stipend of $1,500.



This fellowship is a highly competitive 7-week summer opportunity for students to get hands-on, research training experience in biomedical sciences, develop professional skills, and foster connections within the scientific research community. Each high school student is mentored by an MDI Biological Laboratory researcher or visiting scientist. Students will live on-campus and are provided with full meal plans in the MDI Biological Laboratory dining hall and a stipend. Applicants for the residential program must be 18 years old by the time the program starts, and applicants for the commuter program must be at least 16 years old. Notes for this program are that students must be nominated by a science teacher or guidance counselor to apply to this program, applicants from under-served populations are encouraged to apply, and students from both in-state (Maine) and out-of-state can apply.



This free, virtual program pairs students with mentors with research experience at the college level and beyond to do an independent research project that supports the mentor's development towards independent investigation and mentorship skills, and supports the mentee's interest in continuing in science. This program is highly flexible, and they currently expect to be able to accommodate all interested students so it's great for students who don't have experience.


This is a free summer program that accepts up to 28 students entering their junior or senior year of high school from the greater Philadelphia region for a four-week intensive materials science course. Students will attend workshops, seminars, projects, hands-on activities, and field trips. In order to be eligible for this program, students must have taken chemistry and/or physics courses.



This is a paid summer research program that offers students the opportunity to do research in a faculty's lab, attend weekly activities with the other BUGS participants, and present their research at a final symposium in August. At the end of the program, students will receive a stipend of $3,000.



This 6-month program is for minority (non-Caucasian or female), rural, economically disadvantaged, and/or first-generation students of ANY racial background. This program will expose students to professional healthcare programs, and there will be monthly sessions where students do fun activities and have a chance to earn cool prizes.



This internship gives students interested in a career in academic research the opportunity to spend approximately ten weeks during the summer conducting hypothesis-driven research in childhood cancer in one of the laboratories at the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute. Students will gain first-hand research experience and a distinctive firsthand look at childhood cancer research and can do so from basic science and clinically relevant experimental paradigms. Please note that High school students do not receive stipends and meals, and housing and transportation are not provided.



In this program, students participate in a research project in one of the biomedical disciplines under the guidance of a full-time member of the MD Anderson faculty. Students will do hands-on work that will let them experience what is it like to be a biomedical researcher. At the end of the program, students will present an oral and written report.



For this internship, students will work on a research project in the field of injury at the Harborview Medical Center. Students can meet and learn from peers and health professionals from across the country and will be offered opportunities such as clinical shadowing, seminars, professional development workshops, and social activities. This is a paid internship. At the end of the program, students will receive a stipend of $3,200.


STEM



NASA offers internships in STEM and business. Students can participate in opportunities across the four campuses during the fall, spring, and summer. During the internships, interns will participate in either research or other experiential learning, under the guidance of a mentor at a NASA installation. NASA internships have been named the most prestigious internship, so definitely consider applying if you want a boost to your resume.



This is an after-school program for students in grades 9-12. During this program, students will meet and learn from museum scientists and educators, gain natural history science and technology skills, visit exclusive behind-the-scenes areas of the museum, and meet other science-minded teens from across the D.C. metropolitan area.



This is a career immersion and science communication program for youth between the ages of 14-19, who are currently enrolled in high school (grades 9-11) in the Washington D.C. region. This program provides youth from populations that are traditionally or historically underrepresented in science an opportunity to engage in an immersive, hands-on internship with Smithsonian science staff. Students will have access to behind-the-scenes tours and field trips, creative workshops, college preparatory classes, and the opportunity to create their own TED-type talks.



Explainers engage visitors with hands-on activity carts and interactive demonstrations on topics such as the forces of flight and humans in orbit. They will also respond to visitor questions submitted to the How Thing Fly website. They are scheduled to work at the Museum in DC seven days a week and at the Udvar-Hazy Center on weekends and holidays. Hours at each location are flexible according to their academic schedule.



The Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program is an eight-week paid summer internship and mentoring program for high school students. During this program, students will explore careers in aquatic science and work in fisheries. Participating students receive a $3,000 stipend and an all-expense paid trip to the Hutton Scholars Summit.



The Adler’s Teen Internship Program places current high school students in professional museum roles. For this opportunity, students will engage deeply with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), prepare for a variety of careers, act as community thinkers and change-makers, and meet peers from across the city all while having fun!



Summer teen volunteers have a minimum commitment of 50 hours, and school-year volunteers have a minimum commitment of 100 hours. During this volunteer experience, you will interact with visitors while learning about animals, habitats, the human body, inventions, and cultures.



MITRE offers high schoolers paid positions to discover, create, and lead in the science, engineering, technology, and mathematics fields. Students will collaborate with staff members in cutting edge research, development, engineering, and analysis projects to help make the world a safer place.




The Science and Engineering Apprentice Program (SEAP) places academically talented high school students with interest and ability in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as apprentices in Department of Defense (DoD) laboratories for eight weeks during the summer. While working closely with research personnel, who act as mentors, the students will experience science and engineering practice not available in their school environment. Students will be selected on the basis of grades, science and mathematics courses taken, scores on national standardized tests, areas of interest, teacher recommendations, and personal student statements. First-year interest will receive a stipend of $3,500 while returning interns will receive a stipend of $4,000.



United Planet offers virtual internship and volunteer opportunities to make a positive difference in the world in areas such as children and education, community support, global health, and environmental stability. You do have to pay in order to be placed in the programs, ranging from $800 per month to $2300 for 6 months.


11. Monel Center Science Apprenticeship Program


This program is especially for students from populations underrepresented in science, including females, ethnic or racial minorities, and the economically disadvantaged.

This program includes:

  • At least seven weeks of paid full-time structured research activity with a Monell scientist.

  • A public conference where apprentices present their research to scientific staff, family members, and friends.

  • Enrichment activities that include lectures on scientific topics; public speaking and written communication; and ethical principles guiding human and animal research.

  • Opportunities to learn about different careers in medicine and science.

This program offers stipend-paid summer internship opportunities to upper-level high school students. Interns will gain hands-on experience working with full-time AFRL scientists and engineers on research-based projects. They will also receive technical training and the opportunity to network through social events.

This internship program is for Northern New Mexico high school seniors to develop skills and gain work experience in both STEM and other fields, such as business and administration. There are two application periods, one for the summer season and one for the fall/spring season. The application period for the summer season is from January 1st to April 11th, and the application period for the fall/spring season is from August 1st to December 31st.



This internship program runs for six weeks during the summer and provides STEM research opportunities to Maine high school juniors in host institutions across the state. At the end of the program, interns will be paid a stipend. The application deadline for this program is January 13th.



Students are offered a limited number of research internship positions and will join ongoing projects and learn how to think like scientists. The internship is part-time during the school year (10 hours/week), and full-time (30 hours/week) during the summer. The pay is minimum wage.



This experience is perfect for high school or undergraduate students who are interested in experiencing scientific research and tree science. No experience is necessary and a resume and cover letter are not required. You will be mentored by Morton scientists and can experience careers that explore solutions for climate change, biodiversity, natural resources management, and urban life. You will even get paid for your time there so remember to apply before September 30th!


This is a highly competitive program that provides paid training opportunities for high school juniors and seniors who are interested in the scientific basis of drug abuse. The application deadline is March 1st. Keep in mind that only a limited number of positions are available each summer.



Students will explore the breadth of the scientific enterprise, the importance of biomedical research, and many STEM-M careers. During this 5-week program, you will complete workshops, lectures, and hands-on activities. Students will receive a stipend determined by their education level completed prior to starting at the NIH. I encourage current high school juniors interested in STEM-M (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medically related) fields to apply. An important thing to consider is that only students living with their parents or legal guardians with primary residence in the DMV area are eligible.

You can join this program from anywhere in the world. The best part is that these programs are completely FREE for participating students.



Quest Program topics include binding affinity simulations of PLK receptors and small molecules, identification of novel natural products for PLK1 inhibition, molecular dynamics simulations of PLK-small receptor binding, designing New Cryptosystems, and implementation in Python Programming Language. Tuition is $500 and they are able to provide research stipends in the form of fellowships to eligible students. And all students with family income at or below the 200th percentile of the federal poverty level with receive 100% scholarships.



There are a variety of internships in cyber-security, energy, engineering design, and software development. Full-time enrollment status during the academic school year at a university or at a local high school in the Albuquerque area (Sandia/New Mexico) or San Francisco Bay Area (Sandia/California) is required. Students can intern year-round or during the summer. Students can also choose to co-op during the academic year.


This 7-week internship program is great for students that have a strong interest in bioscience, engineering, environmental health, or biostatistics. After a week of laboratory techniques and safety training, interns participate in research projects. Then at the end of the program, interns will present their research projects.




NASEP is free a year-long program that connects students with academic professionals and industry representatives from STEM-related fields and exposes them to STEM careers. Students will have access to one-on-one college preparation coaching and interactive workshops, and family events. During the summer phase program, students will participate in STEM-related workshops. During the research phase project, students will gain exposure to the scientific method and create and present research posters. During the enrichment phase, students will have the opportunity to participate in multiple unique events. Finally, during the closing banquet phase, students will have a

closing banquet at The University of Arizona and will receive a NASEP stole upon completion.



This is a 6-week STEM research experience for rising high school juniors and seniors. During this program, you will gain hands-on experience in areas at the forefront of various STEM fields. Those accepted into the program will be matched with another student and a teacher from their school and participate in cutting-edge research activities, develop professional and college-ready skills, interact with STEM professionals, and present their research.



This internship program is for students from communities across Michigan — including rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged communities. Interns spend six weeks working with a team of UM researchers and mentors in the life sciences while engaging with college preparedness programming. At the end of the program, interns will receive a stipend of $1,700.



In this program, high school students can present the results of their original research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in either an oral or poster session to compete for scholarships and recognition. There are also opportunities for career exploration, research lab visits, peer discussions, and networking. Students in grades 9-12 enrolled in public, private, or home schools are eligible to participate in their local Regional Symposium.



This is a free, week-long, residential fellowship at WHOI that exposes high school girls to marine careers. Students will work with researchers to explore STEM-related activities and research. Fellows will participate in exercises and build skills to integrate science with arts and humanities. Please note that this fellowship is only for residents of MA that

attend a high school in the state.



The Anson L. Clark Scholar Program is an intensive seven-week summer research program for twelve highly qualified high school juniors and seniors. You can do research in areas such as agricultural science, architecture, art, business, education, engineering, communication, law, medicine, and many more.



Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) provides internship opportunities for students to get on-the-job training and real-world leadership development experiences in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), data analysis, and market/scientific research. This internship opportunity is for a high school graduate with plans to attend college in fall 2022; an undergraduate or graduate level college student; OR a recent college graduate, within the last 12 months. This is an eight-week commitment and interns will receive a total stipend of $3,250.



This program is for rising 12th graders who are passionate about the sciences. RISE is open to both commuter and residential students and provides two research tracks: Internship and Practicum. Internships will work on research projects under the mentorship of distinguished faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students. You also have the option to choose the Practicum track if you have an interest in learning about systems neuroscience, neurobiology, using the scientific method, and designing computational models of the brain.

This is a paid internship offered to seniors in Philadelphia. During this eight-week internship, participants will work at leading art organizations, attend professional development workshops and get to tour the region's most important cultural sites. Interns will work 35 hours per week and earn $14.47 per hour.

I strongly recommend this opportunity if you are interested in art and design. The classes are free and you have the option to take them online. The best part about this program is that you earn while you learn. For every class that you receive a pass, you will earn $1,000 towards your undergraduate studies at the Academy of Art University.
